Financial Independence Day

FREEDOM. What does it mean to you? Today, July 4th, we celebrate the birth of our Nation as we became an Independent Country. Not tied down to laws or taxes from anybody else. Are you free?

Just as our forefathers fought to be free from foreign reign, each and every one of us should be striving to become free also. Free from debt, free from a job we hate, free from stress of living paycheck to paycheck, freedom to not get upset if our spouse spends money on something we think is not needed.

Does anything in that list sound like you? Then take today, this July 4th, and claim it as YOUR Independence Day. The day you finally decide that enough is enough. The day you decide to make a change in your life. Stop wasting precious time and make some sacrifices to change your life. You may not reach your complete freedom overnight, unless you win the lottery, then maybe. But by taking small steps today, you will be in a different place a few years from now. If you do nothing, then you can’t expect anything to change. Where do you see yourself 5 years from now? 10 years from now? Will you still be doing the same job you hate? Will you still be living paycheck to paycheck? Will you be in even more debt?

If you haven’t done so yet, start educating yourself. Just by reading this blog you are making progress. But you need to do more. Start reading more books. There is a great list of many books that have helped me on my road to Financial Independence. You can find them in the suggested books tab. I wouldn’t recommend them if I didn’t think they were helpful. Read the notes I made next to each to get what I thought of it. But just because I don’t like a specific book, doesn’t mean you won’t. Many people have recommended some that were a tremendous help to them, but I didn’t get much out of it. Each of us is at a different point in our lives where different things matter more to some than others. You may be in the right place in your life to be impacted and motivated by one thing over another. Maybe you like Real Estate like I do, or maybe you want nothing to do with real estate and prefer mutual funds and a high savings rate as your ticket to freedom. There isn’t a right or wrong way to get there. The only thing that can stop you is you. You need to make the decision in your mind to get going.

It is kind of like starting a train. Trains take a long time to get moving. It takes a lot of energy to get rolling but once they do, they gain momentum and then become an unstoppable force. The same is true for investing in Real Estate or anything. At first there won’t be a big change, but keep at it and over time you can reach your goal much sooner than you think. I started just three years ago and I am almost there. I am close to closing on a huge deal that will be life changing and it only happened because I started. If I was not even in the game I would not have ever had the opportunity.

So what are you waiting for? Get out there and claim your Independence. Start your journey today. If you are already on the path, keep going. There is still more to learn. Here is a link to the books for you to read to help change your life : BOOKS
